Hi, I’m Antonio Marchese, and I built Puglia Uncovered. I grew up in the province of Brindisi and spent thirty years living in Puglia. I don’t live there full-time any more, but I come back as often as I can: for the landscapes, the food and the friends who always know the place you’d never find on your own.

I started this site because most of what’s written about Puglia, or Apulia, in English is the same recycled list, often by people who’ve never set foot here. I wanted a guide that reads like advice from someone who knows the region first-hand, which town to base yourself in, which beach is worth the drive, where to eat that isn’t a tourist trap and which masseria is the real thing.

How I make the guides

Every guide is built on real knowledge of the region, not copied from other sites. I recommend the towns, stays, beaches, tables and experiences I’d point a friend to, and I keep them updated as things change on the ground. If I can’t stand behind a place, it doesn’t go in. Start with the destinations or plan your trip.

I also run the site’s SEO and editorial side myself, so what you read is shaped by one person who cares about getting it right, not a content team paid by the word.
